hidden in a pale house i dove into your pores and found another kind of power laying like a kid i searched the mattress for an answer so what ambition makes you king? and what could something little mean? is all our loving cheap if what we made we can't keep? golden in the cockpit we crashed like waves on the carpet and watched the dreamers getting restless heavy like the bottle like tire talking's all i know so what ambition could i have when all i want's to hold her hand? when all i need's what i have? if she's not coming back? if she's not coming back?
2.
your dad's still kind of sexist and my mom's a loner the way we love is reckless and our plans are changing she tastes like wine and talking's like sex we spent the day trying to get it back but the city is gray and the water is clean we laughed at ourselves in a lonely field this conversation's boring and our friends are late she's putting on my shirt while i'm making breakfast and i thought it all through behind a cigarette confessed my love like a children's book and i won't try i won't try to put up a fight or change your mind and i know it's wrong head's in a fog if i'm still convinced you're staying i'm sorry

heavy 02:07
my head is hard my heart is heavy in the dark i feel so strange maybe it's the wine i had to drink but i don't mind it feels ok to feel bad sometimes when everything feels like another sacrifice i had this dream learned then forgot what it all means i search my thoughts the leaves are dancing in the parking lot are you in the mood? for something beautiful and good? if not that's fine there'll always be another night i just wanna stay and waste some time a couple hours out of line maybe i'll raise my cup but i won't drink too much just enough to find a current in the night another burning light a feeling that i might remember later on
6.
stumped 02:38
mama once told me that i could be a painter or a doctor or whatever but mostly i'm just stumped these days and i'm scared i'll always be so here's hoping i get better than what i've turned out to be i've been given such a gift but what do i have to show for it? i feel like i've been chewing more than i've bit i ask you what should i do and you say, "don't use that word!" i can't help it, my brain's melted from all the cautionary tales i've heard a rolling stone gathers no moss but maybe moss is what i need? have you seen it? my back leaning against the wrong side of the tree maybe i've been in this hell cuz i'm afraid of the choice itself in choosing i must sacrifice part of myself
7.
big dipper 01:58
like water rolling down some hill i come to rest sometimes in a low and easy place so hold me in your cupped hands now i'm a mirror with a placid surface turning a bashful cheeks until i slip through your fingers what's the use in seeing me? ian smokes a cigarette out in the new england cold i look down and i feel old standing outside of the show and in the corner of the parking lot i point up at orion and i point at the big dipper and the dipper points somewhere too off somewhere out of view...
8.
spring 03:05
i find myself in some kind of love again the love that i share with my old friends a voice drifts gently down from the window above speaking with words like flower buds "tell us that story you tell!" i shrug and i say, "what the hell" can i take a picture of you with the sun in your eyes? a relic of when fortune shined on me i'll keep it in my pocket with my memories there's only so much we get to keep so let's have another drink and fade into history i can still hear the silence beneath it all when i pay attention to its call but i neglect to listen more often than not so easy to say that i forgot i tie myself up in knots in service to my wayward thoughts oh my god it keeps me up at night the thought that i might die before i wake help me out and keep me company wandering the streets just messing around that sounds good to me
